WORKSHOPS

We do a variety of workshops throughout the year.  On alternate Wednesdays at 7pm and Sundays at 3pm we hold our Introduction to Studio Lighting workshops.  These workshops are a non intimidating, introduction to using studio lights and are perfect if you are thinking of hiring the studio or just want to know how studio lighting works.   

As well our general workshops listed below, we also provide one to one tuition, tailormade to suit your needs.  

Introduction to Studio Lighting Workshop

Alternate Wednesdays and Sundays - £20 (2 hours)


We run an Introduction to lighting workshop on alternate Sundays and Wednesday evenings.  This is aimed at demystifying studio lighting and using equipment in a photography studio.  Feel free to register for one of these classes before you book the studio or if you just want to learn about the studio basics.

This workshop includes:

1. Welcome and introduction to LDN and MAAN Studios.
2. Using mirrorless and DSLR cameras in the studio.
3. Lenses for use in Studio.
4. Basics of lighting and theory. Hard and soft lighting.
5. Types of lighting equipment. Flash lights, studio strobes, LEDs, triggers etc.
6. Studio equipment, c stand, background types, reflectors.
7. Lighting setup with one light.

 

To maximise your benefit from the workshop we have a maximum of four attendees.

DRAMATIC PORTRAIT LIGHTING INTRODUCTION WORKSHOP

Beauty Workshop

chiaroscuro. /kɪˌɑːrəˈskʊərəʊ/

noun: the treatment of light and shade in drawing and painting.'

 If you love creating photographs full of character this portrait workshop is for you. We will be working with low key and lighting effects in the studio, utilising different ligh modifiers to create atmospheric images.

We will cover portrait lighting basics, how to control light, using reflectors to add and subtract light to create drama.

 We recommend bringing a DSLR / Mirrorless camera with a 35mm, 50mm or 85mm lens or zoom lens with similar focal length.

All lighting equipment is provided at the studio and trigger compatible with cameras with a standard size hotshoe.

 We will be working with Retro Rob on creating characterful portraits that evoke emotion.

Beauty Portrait Lighting Introductory Workshop

Like to learn more about lighting beauty portraits?  We will cover portrait lighting bastics, how to control light, using reflectors to add and substract light to creat flattering lighting effects. 

Working with a model in a collaborative way to produce great images will also be covered. 

We recommend bringing a DSLR/Mirrorless camera with a 35mm, 50mm or 85mm lens or zoom lens with similar focal length. 

All lighting equipment is provided by at the studio and trigger compatible with cameras with a standard size hotshoe.

ONE TO ONE WORKSHOPS
